This course provides a focused overview of key proposed changes in Florida Building Code, Residential, 9th Edition (2026), affecting one & two-family dwellings. Emphasis is placed on definitions, building planning, fire-resistance requirements, life safety provisions, and emerging technologies.
Participants will gain a practical understanding of how these updates modify the current Florida Building Code (8th Edition, 2023), with specific attention to field application, permitting, and inspection impacts.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
After completion, the student will be better able to:
- Identify major changes in Chapters 1-10 of the
FBC Residential - Apply updated definitions impacting building construction
- Understand structural and wind-related updates
- Recognize changes to fire-resistance and separation requirements
- Apply updated egress and life safety provisions
- Identify emerging building technologies impacting residential construction
The Developers Council is a group of committed developers, builders and associate members who meet monthly to discuss prominent issues and topics relating to the residential construction industry.
