Area 52 is one of many brands of delta-8 THC extracts from hemp. It markets itself as an herbal supplement with the sole purpose of helping individuals ''feel good,'' ''cope,'' and ''handle stress.''
In a letter addressed to the United States Federal Drug Enforcement Administration, the National Association of Manufacturers, Incorporated stated their opposition to the rescheduling of hemp and marijuana stating that the classification as Schedule II is ''ridiculously'' restrictive and ''onerous.'' According to the group, there is ''no medical need for either substance.'' Recreational use of marijuana is strictly prohibited by the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937. The Association also noted that there are no current lawful medical uses for either hemp or marijuana.
